Season's best result with McLaren in Paul-Ricard

Heading to Paul-Ricard for Round 3 of Blancpain Endurance Series, it was the last chance for the entire Boutsen Ginion team to prepare 24h of Spa-Francorchamps later this month.
It was clearly going to be a difficult and challenging race, with 56 cars on track and high temperatures close to 35°C, it was tough for car, crew and drivers.

During both practices Boutsen-Ginion used the time carefully to set up the McLaren GT3 and fine tune, to suit the drivers. Although we finished respectively P26 & P30 during free practice, the performance was better the the final result.

In qualifying, Nico set the pace and was first McLaren, by finishing on a solid 12th position with a time of 1.58.205.
Nico "Boutsen-Ginion did a great job to get a good balanced car, compared to free practices, but traffic and slightly missed tyre temperatures, avoided me to go faster, which is a shame, as I'm shure we could have gone at least another 0.5sec faster"

Boutsen-Ginion decided to let Nico take the start, which was a good decision, as it started to rain on the grid just before the race started, but it quickly dried up. "Straight away I had a good start and was able to stay out of trouble the first couple of corners. Steadily I was moving up the field and the car felt very competitive and consistant. Besides the leading Ferrari' nm 71# , who was to fast around this track, I fought my way up to P4 untill safety car went out for a big crash. Unfortunately it took longer then expected and failed to make the most out of it as most of our closest competitors came in and took advantage of this safety-car. After our first pitstop my teammates made steady progress, but had some difficulties with the car-balance, which we have to analyse further. It seemed we would finish on a solid P12 and 1st McLaren, but a splash & dash dropped us back to P14"

Once again Nico was the only McLaren driver setting fast and consistent laptimes and showing the true pace of the Brittish GT car with a fastest race laptime of 1.59.699.

Once again Boutsen-Ginion and McLaren made good progress to make our car more competitive and consistent, which is promising for 24h of Spa, later this month. Before the greatest race of this year, I'll have on 14 & 15 July Round 4 of ADAC Gt Masters with FordGt40 of Lambda Performance in Nurburgring, July will be a very busy month!

Nico is happy to annouce you, he will be competing again at the 3000miles BeThrophy (former 25h Fun-Cup) at Spa-Francorchamps this weekend where he is invited to strengthen M&M's racing team, car nm. 269# together with his experienced Fun-Cup teammates and successful entrepreneurs Peter Vandenbosch, Pierre-Olivier Beckers and Eric Mestdagh.
