Well deserved podium on Red-Bull Ring (AUT)

Last weekend was round 5 of ADAC GT Masters on Red-Bull Ring, Spielberg in Austria. First experience on this new track for both drivers.
It was going to be a difficult weekend, looking at the dominance of Porsche & Corvette with their strong engines and aero-package. As we know the determination of Lambda Performance and Nico Verdonck, they went home with solid points and a superb podium on Sunday.

During both practices, Nico and his teammate finished P10. "Considering the few electronic issues we had and no track-experience beforehand, we knew there was more to come."

Unfortunately during qualifying, Jesse qualified himself P18, with still some electronic problems, which didn't help him to put the car more in the front.
Nico was able to position the Ford Gt on P12, which was better, but not good enough; "We struggled to find the peak out of the new tyres, which is at this high level of competition very hard to make the difference"

Nico's teammate started well in Race 1, untill there were 2 safety-car procedures and he got hit by another SLS driver, which dropped him back to P27. The car performed well, which enabled Jesse to fight his way to the front, passing several cars to pit in at P21, after the pit-window closed and did the driver change, we were P16.

"This was I think my best race so far in ADAC GT Masters, after fighting our way through the field, by a good 1st opening stint of my teammate, the team did a terrific pitstop, and I was able to set constantly some qualifying laps during my stint - being the quickest car on track besides some Porsche's - my engineer kept pushing me to believe we were able to score point(s), as their was a gap of 10seconds the last 15min. But my laptimes were that good, that it was still possible, so I kept pushing and got behind the SLS driver where I had a thrilling battle with in the last lap and got the advantage on T7, to take the last point, which was a relief for the entire Lambda Performance, after our hard work!"

Race 2 it was Nico who took a good start, stayed out trouble and fought his way through to pit in on P8. Once again Lambda Performance did a good pitstop and came out with Jesse on P4, he got to defend his position with a Corvette untill the end and was able to finish on the final podium spot, which was a well deserved 3th position!

"I want to dedicate this podium to a good friend of me, Peter, who is very ill and my thoughts are with him!"

"Looking back on this hard raceweekend we can be satisfied, knowing the problems we had during the event, a new track for both drivers and not the strongest track for the Ford Gt. This is encouraging for the entire Lambda Performance to continue this direction to finish the season on a high note!"

Next race is 26-28 August in Lausitzring, back in Germany. Where Nico and Lambda Performance will continue to improve their performances and score more points in the championship.
