Nico Verdonck had every reason to believe in achieving a good result during the 67th edition of the Total 24 Hours of Spa. At the wheel of the Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 entered by the Black Falcon team and together with his teammates Adam Christodoulou and Andreas Simonsen, the Brussels based driver had put together all the pieces of the puzzle to perform brilliantly in the Ardennes classic.

More discrete than he would have wished at the beginning of this 2015 season, with a mere two BRCC races under his belt, Nico Verdonck is back! Last Saturday the Brussels based driver competed in an event of the VLN championship, on the Nürburgring, and he can now confirm that he will be at the start of the 24 Hours of Spa with a Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 entered by the Black Falcon team!

His European season over, Nico Verdonck had recently accepted HCP’s proposal to compete in the first edition of the “Classic 24 Hour Daytona” (*) organised over the weekend of 15th & 16th November 2014.

Since nearly five year, the experienced and highly rated professional racing driver Nico Verdonck, is working for Mercedes Belgium, where he is looking after all AMG test drives for current and potential customers.

The “1000 Kms of the Nürburgring”, 5th and final round of the Blancpain Endurance Series, started off on a high note for Nico Verdonck.

Quite decidedly Nico Verdonck is at home in all the disciplines! During this last weekend at the Slovakia Ring he has also confirmed that he is also an excellent sprinter.

This 2014 edition of the “Total 24 Hours of Spa” was undoubtedly one of the most gruelling races of recent years, with a series of pile-ups and serious accidents (including one that neutralised the race for over one hour!), principally owing to a lack of experience of some drivers at this level.

Following Thursday’s brilliant free practice sessions, during which the Mercedes HTP Motorsport bearing # 84 proved to be the fastest, it will be taking the start of this gruelling and longest race of the Blancpain Endurance Series from 7th place (and from 3rd row) of the grid.

Paul Ricard (France) – 28th June 2014, 3rd round Blancpain Endurance Series

Nico Verdonck has divulged this morning his teammates who will run with HTP Motorsport on Mercedes AMG GT3 by ALD for the most important race of his season of the Blancpain Endurance Series – the 24 Hours of Spa – end of July in Francorchamps.

They are Harold Primat and Bernd Schneider who won the 24 Hours last year.
