Engine problems suffered any good result in Nurburgring

Last weekend the 4th round of ADAC GT Masters took place on the Nurburgring. This time on the short circuit, as it was together with Truck Grand-Prix a big event in Germany with more then 200000 spectators.
The objective of Lambda Performance and Nico Verdonck was clearly to strengthen our 7th position in the ADAC GT Masters championship.

During Free practices Nico and his teammate Jesse where competitive during both sessions with P12. "Considering the different settings we tried throughout the sessions, we knew where to improve for Qualifying. Unfortunately we suffered serious engine performance loss during both Qualy-session, as we finished only P26 & P33, never finished this bad a qualifying session. Due to engine problems in qualifying Lambda Performance decided to change the engine for Race 1 on Saturday."

Jesse took the start for R1 and could immediately feel the improvement of the new engine, even under wet conditions. Although he made a good start and was good underway on his 1st lap, he was hit by an Audi & broke his suspension, DNF as a result.

Once again it was a Wet race and started behind Safety-car, with the field being spread out a lot, as we were, starting from P33 it was going to be a difficult race for Nico in his FordGT. "I had a perfect start and gained 10 positions after 1 lap being on P22, consistantly lapping faster then the cars in front of me it was looking to be a promising race, untill I was fighting for P19 and got to close with a Mercedes and went of in Turn 5, hit slightly the tyres and lost almost all my positions. Came back from P33 to P25, after the driver change, Jesse finished still on a solid 18th position."

Looking back, qualifying definitely harmed our changes of performing well in both races, so we need to work hard and focuss for the remainder of the season. But together with the entire Lambda Performance crew, I'm confident we'll come back stronger, as everyone know we have the potential, but must have everything under control and finish the job!

Next race in 3weeks on 11 and 12 August, in Austria on Red-Bull Ring.

Before next ADAC race, Nico is focussing again on Blancpain Endurance Series, where he will compete with McLaren at the next race with Boutsen Ginion, which is 24h Spa-Francorchamps from 25 till 28 July.
