Nico Verdonck to visit Austin Texas in Persuite of New Opportunities

Due to commercial reasons Nico Verdonck will not take part in the final race of the BES championship in Nurburgring with Gulf Racing.

This has given the 27-year-old, who has taken one podium finish in the Blancpain Endurance Series at the first round in Monza and delivered a very strong performance at Spa, the opportunity to pursue other opportunities. Nico is considering  the newly launched USCR Championship which will commence in 2014 and is focused on Daytona Prototypes, GT and LMPC mainly, where Nico has extensive experience and had many successes with in the past. Also this season on Red-Bull Ring, where he clinched Pole Position and 2nd place on the TEC #47 in LMPC class, thanks to Oreca.
Nico Verdonck has been one of the prominent drivers in endurance racing in the past few years, having won 2009 European Formula Le Mans (LMPC) title and has been a regular podium contender no matter what circuit discipline he has contested.
His unfortunate withdrawal from the BES championship means he will not be able to capitalize on his strong showings. He is now ready to take on any new challenges that present themselves for remainder of this season and the future.
Nico commented: “Off course I’m really disappointed not to be able to contest and fight for a chance of winning the final race of the Blancpain Endurance Series, especially after our strong podium in Monza and good pace at the Spa24h … Nevertheless I thank Gulf-Racing for the chances they gave me.  I am now focused on obtaining a competitive program in USA or Europe for 2014.
